Mills' monograph covers her father's life including his move to Riverside, California, his navel orange crops, and the founding of the Riverside Land & Irrigating Company. Mills also spends much time on her father's legal troubles that eventually led to him losing the majority of his property. Mills talks in general about the navel orange industry in California, California history, Riverside, San Bernardino, irrigation, and John Wesley North. The monograph includes photographs and maps of land owned by Tibbets. Accompanying the monograph is two volumes of court transcripts of cases involving Tibbets, both in San Bernardino and Riverside from 1875 to 1899.

Minnie Tibbets Mills is the daughter of Luther C. Tibbets, the man who is credited with planting the first navel orange tree in southern California and founding the navel orange industry in California.
